When I began to sew for myself, I purchased commercial patterns, but found they were too complex for me. I soon figured out ways to use only simple pattern pieces; I ignored facings, darts, and zippers. I used ties to create the silhouette I wanted. After many years of this "style" of sewing I am able to create impeccable couture workmanship, but done with modular shapes and simple tricks I have developed.
